The Ministry of Culture of Georgia has announced the winners of the 2024 Anna Literary Prize, devoted to celebrating women writers.
The list of the winners is as follows:
- Woman Poet category – Manana Chitishvili.
- Woman Prose Writer – Maka Jokhadze for her collection The Thorns of Iscariot.
- Woman Translator – Rusudan Gvinepadze for Franz Kafka’s Diaries.
This year, the category of ‘Best Work on Women’s Issues’ did not select a winner.
The prize was established in 2022 to support and promote female authors, with one category open to both men and women. The laureates receive symbolic awards and monetary prizes of GEL 5,000.
“This year is particularly special as it marks the 100th anniversary of Anna Kalandadze, the queen of Georgian poetry, whose legacy this prize celebrates,” noted the Ministry of Culture.
