Public Servant is Arrested on Charges of Taking Bribes from Eco-Migrants

State Security Service Of Georgia reported information that as a result of operative-investigative actions, on the basis of a judge’s decision, on the fact of taking bribes Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, LEPL Agency for Refugees, Eco-Migrants and Livelihoods chief specialist of the registration division was arrested.

“The investigation found out that an employee of the LEPL “Agency for Refugees, Eco-Migrants, and Livelihoods”, from one of the eco-migrants in need of rehousing, approved by the state program in exchange for a positive decision to issue a cash grant of GEL 25,000 he/she systematically took various amounts of money in the form of bribes.

In March 2021, the arrested person took GEL 1,500 from a citizen in exchange for buying a house in Tsalka district, and in May of the same year in exchange for the purchase of a house in Adigeni district – 2,000 GEL. Other cases have been identified, investigative actions are underway. An investigation is underway on the bribery,” the statement reads.
