Tbilisi City Hall will start night-time roadworks at midnight on November 28 to create a dedicated public transport lane between Vakhushti Bridge and Saakadze Square. Mayor Kakha Kaladze confirmed that although a bus lane is being added the overall number of vehicle lanes will not change.
Beyond the bus lane the project introduces pedestrian islands for road safety. New infrastructure updates will also include fresh road markings signs traffic lights landscaping and greenery works.
The project is being implemented jointly by three municipal services: the City Infrastructure Development Service the Transport and Urban Development Agency and the Environmental Protection Service. Construction is scheduled only at night to avoid disruption caused by heavy daytime traffic.
City Hall expects all works to be completed within two weeks and the full project to conclude in under two weeks.
