Tbilisi Mayor: Rehabilitation of Vera Park Begins

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced the City Hall has started the design works for the renovation of Vera Park.

Kaladze noted the existence of recreational spaces in the city is fundamentally important and added that in recent years, a number of squares and parks have been arranged in the city.

“This is important for our health, for future generations. The capital has great potential, resources and we continue to work in this direction. I would like to inform you that in close cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, we have decided to rehabilitate Vera Park. Co-participatory planning of Vera Park will be the best precedent for the proper development of other green spaces, promoting citizen integration and engagement. It can be said that this is the first project in the implementation of which an international financial organization participates,” Kaladze said.

As the mayor noted, the current condition of the park is quite serious. For full-scale rehabilitation, pre-project research, detailed design project, and then construction work are needed. Kaladze added that Vera Park is a cultural heritage site and therefore, special attention will be paid to preserve its original condition as much as possible.
