The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. President Zurabishvili noted she had had a conversation with her French counterpart about Georgia’s European candidacy.
“Greetings from Paris. I am very happy that I had a very fruitful conversation with the French President about our European candidacy,” said Salome Zurabishvili.
The video material of Salome Zurabishvili’s and Emmanuel Macron’s statement was distributed on the President’s social network.
“As always, I had a very pleasant conversation with Madam President,” Macron said after the meeting with Zurabishvili.
The French President also confirmed he had spoken with her about Georgia and the country’s EU candidacy.
“Thank you very much, Madam President. Today in Paris, as always, I had a very pleasant conversation with Madam President. I am happy that I hosted her to talk about Georgia, its EU candidacy, the future of the country and the region.
“I also want to express my support for the brave struggle to protect democracy, the rule of law, and also for the European path, which I believe is the future of the Georgian people.
“I wish you all the best of luck. I will continue to support Madam President on this path in the coming days, months and years, which is very important for you and for us,” Macron said.
For the record, Georgian Dream is starting an impeachment procedure against Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.
