The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, responded to the patriarch’s letter noting he has really strengthened spiritually over the last year.
“I am grateful to His Holiness that, despite being very tired, he met Sandra and Nicholas very warmly and talked with them for a long time.
“I would like to reply to those who somehow connected ‘spiritual reality’ with prison: They missed the word ‘spiritual.’ In the last year, I have really grown spiritually, for the first time I received the eucharist, and most importantly, I have had a lot of time and opportunities to pray.
“As for prison, the main slogan of the Ukrainian fighters is ‘freedom or death,’ so freedom will win. Merry Christmas to everyone,” noted Saakashvili.
