During her concluding remarks at the European Parliament debate on Georgia, MEP Rasa Juknevičienė expressed gratitude to all political groups—except for a few consistently pro-Russian members—for supporting a European future for Georgia.
“I hope the report on Georgia will be adopted with an absolute majority tomorrow,” she said, calling on the European Council and member states to move forward with sanctions against the Georgian regime.
Juknevičienė also urged the Danish EU Council Presidency to lead efforts to unite willing countries in pressuring the government for new, free, and fair elections, which she said is the only way to help Georgia.
The Parliament will vote on the report concerning Georgia tomorrow.
