Speaking at the Independence Day rally on Rustaveli Avenue, Lithuanian MEP Rasa Juknevičienė voiced strong support for the Georgian people, calling them “heroes” and declaring that their struggle is a shared fight for Europe and against the colonial Russian empire.
“I believe in the brave Georgian people. May God bless Georgia,” she said, addressing the crowd with admiration and solidarity.
Juknevičienė noted that dictators fear their own citizens: “Putin fears Russians, Lukashenko fears Belarusians, and here in Georgia, one person fears ‘debidzination’—a process that is inevitable, because this regime is incompatible with Georgia’s European future.”
She urged government collaborators not to fear free and fair elections and expressed support for jailed activists, including Mzia Amaghlobeli, Zurab Japaridze, and former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
“Georgia is Europe. Your courage inspires all of us. Our hearts are with you,” she concluded, also thanking Ukraine for defending European values through its sacrifice.
