Protesters are throwing plastic bottles and fireworks at riot police behind the parliament building.
Enraged by the country’s distancing from the West at the hands of the Georgian Dream ruling party, and further angered by the news that the US has broken off its strategic partnership with Georgia, the protesters are provoking the riot police, unafraid- calling out “Russians!”
The riot police at first retreated, using the water cannon as they went, and now they have activated the official warning message, asking the protesters to disperse.
The fury is such that it is clear the protesters have no intention of backing down.
