The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has started an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania. The welcoming ceremony was held at Vilnius International Airport.
The official welcoming ceremony of the President will be held tomorrow in the Palace of the President of the Republic of Lithuania.
High-level meetings are scheduled with the Lithuanian President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the Seimas. The Presidents of Georgia and Lithuania will make a joint for to the media after face-to-face and extended meetings.
Zurabishvili will lay a wreath at the memorial of the heroes who died in the struggle for the independence of the Republic of Lithuania and will visit the Museum of the Occupation and Freedom Fights of Lithuania.
As the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Lithuania, Salome Shapakidze noted, such a high-level visit of the President of Georgia is very important. It will contribute to the further strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations between the countries. The visit is also timely, in the context of European integration.
