The Roads Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure reported that a major transport infrastructure project is set to improve connection between Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli and Kvemo Kartli.
The project includes the rehabilitation of a 2.9 km stretch of the Ksani–Saskhori road and the construction of a new 389-meter bridge over the Mtkvari River. Fully funded by the state at a cost of GEL 20 million, the initiative will create the shortest route linking the three regions via the Nichbisi–Didgori corridor.
Officials say the new route will ease traffic flow on the congested East–West Highway segment near Tbilisi, offering a strategic bypass for regional transit.
The upgraded route is also expected to stimulate economic activity in Ksani, a local industrial center. By providing an alternative to the current Kanda–Ksani road, the project is designed to improve logistics, mobility and access for small businesses operating in the area.
