Batumi City Court has once again found journalist Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, guilty of an administrative offence—this time for displaying a protest poster.
Judge Mariana Pomaeva fined Amaglobeli 1,000 GEL following testimony from two law enforcement officers and one protest participant.
Amaglobeli’s defense argued that she is being prosecuted twice for the same incident. A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs claimed the two charges are separate—one for insulting law enforcement and another for displaying the poster.
Amaglobeli had previously been fined 2,000 GEL for the first administrative offence. She boycotted today’s hearing in protest.
Meanwhile, the criminal case against her is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for June 23.
