Ministry of Infrastructure reports that Borjomi’s Central Park and its surrounding areas are undergoing large-scale rehabilitation works within Georgia’s ‘Cities and Resorts Development Program’. One of the central components of the project is the restoration of the former Borjomi factory which holds cultural heritage status. The building’s facade is currently being fully restored, while broader upgrades are also taking place across the historic park.
The project aims a comprehensive renewal of Borjomi’s park infrastructure. Plans include the installation of new recreational, children’s and sports areas, as well as the renovation of pedestrian pathways. Sports facilities are a particular focus: three padel courts have already been completed and construction of a multifunctional stadium and skate park is in progress.
The entertainment zone of the park has also seen major improvements, with five new attractions already installed. Near the ‘Rope City’ attraction, paving and finishing works are ongoing. A new recreational space has been created next to the Prometheus monument, complemented by fresh landscaping and greenery. In addition, the park’s drainage and irrigation systems have been fully renewed.
Accessibility has been a primary consideration, with the entire park set to be adapted for individuals with special needs. The overall estimated cost of the project is 35 million GEL.
