Kakha Kaladze to journalists: “Mathematics is not your strong side”

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze dismissed a journalist’s question suggesting he was backed by only 20% of the capital, insisting he received 71% of support in the local elections.

“Mathematics is not your strong side. You don’t know how and what is calculated,” Kaladze told reporters, adding that in 2017 he won 204,000 votes, while this year he secured 215,370. “Now go, sit down and first prepare yourself in mathematics. Then you will understand all this better.”

Kaladze stressed that the pre-election period was “absolutely calm and equal,” claiming every political party and candidate had the chance to present their vision to voters.

He argued that speculation about unfair conditions has always surrounded elections in Georgia, both before and after voting. “It’s always the same message, saturated with lies and falsehood,” Kaladze said.

The mayor thanked more than 213,000 residents who supported him, emphasizing that this was “a very important responsibility.”

“I promise everyone that we will return this love and support,” he concluded.
