Inspectors from the Shida Kartli Regional Department of the National Food Agency of Georgia have identified illegal dairy processing operations in the Khashuri municipality following an official investigation.
The Agency said that two operators, a private individual identified as P.G. and an individual entrepreneur D.K., based in the village of Osiauri near Khashuri, were producing so-called cheese products intended for commercial sale without mandatory registration in the economic activities registry and without obtaining official recognition from the Agency.
The inspection revealed that production was being carried out in violation of sanitary and hygienic standards. Authorities stated that the facilities were operating without proper authorization and in conditions that did not meet food safety requirements.
As a result of the violations, the business operators were fined and their production processes were suspended.
The National Food Agency has reiterated its call for business operators not to produce or process food of animal origin, except for primary production, without proper registration and official recognition. The Agency also stressed the importance of complying fully with food safety regulations to protect public health.
