The National Wine Agency published data revealing that as of August 26, 2025, more than 120 wine companies have registered to participate in Georgia’s annual grape harvest campaign.
The Harvest Coordination Headquarters, based in the village of Gurjaani, Gurjaani Municipality, expects that up to 400 wineries will ultimately be involved this year. “Drawing on past experience, our goal is to ensure a smooth harvest where every grower can deliver their grapes without obstacles. This year’s government decision is aimed at properly valuing the work of winegrowers, with higher recognition for those who produce healthy and quality grapes,” said Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
State policy and pricing
In 2025, the government has decided that private wine companies will not receive subsidies. If the private sector cannot purchase the entire harvest, the state-owned enterprise Harvest Management Company LLC will step in to take surplus grapes.
Purchase prices have been determined as follows:
- Saperavi grapes (Kakheti region): 1.50 GEL per kg
- Other authorized wine varieties: 1.20 GEL per kg
- Non-standard or damaged/diseased grapes: 1.00 GEL per kg
The Coordination Headquarters is fully prepared to manage the process. Farmers and companies can access harvest-related information through the hotline of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (1501) or directly via the Harvest Coordination Headquarters hotline (0322 193 283).
