Official trade data shows that Georgia has recorded a significant increase in both the volume and cost of beef imports in the first two months of 2026, reflecting rising global prices and growing domestic demand.
In January–February 2026, frozen beef imports reached 956.6 tons, valued at USD 4.3 million, up from 645.1 tons worth USD 2.7 million in the same period of 2025. Alongside higher volumes, import prices rose sharply, with the average customs price increasing from USD 2.14 per kilogram to USD 3.35, an annual rise of 56.5%.
Brazil remained the dominant supplier, accounting for the majority of imports with 821.2 tons valued at USD 3.3 million. Other main suppliers included Ukraine (90.6 tons), Lithuania (40.2 tons), the Netherlands (1.5 tons) and Russia (1.5 tons).
Fresh beef imports also showed noticeable growth. Georgia imported 363.1 tons worth USD 2.07 million during the same period, a 125.2% increase in volume and a 165.5% rise in value compared to the previous year. The average price climbed from USD 4.83 to USD 5.70 per kilogram.
