Georgian Railways has announced changes to the scheduled train services between Tbilisi and Batumi on September 4 and 5.
Due to technical issues, the usual Stadler train (No. 806/805 “JRS”) will be replaced by a “JRT” type train on these dates. An additional comfortable double-decker bus will be provided to accommodate passengers.
Additionally, Georgian Railways has confirmed that the operation of train No. 806/805, which was originally scheduled to run until September 15, 2024, will be cancelled starting September 6 due to the same technical concerns.
Passengers affected by these cancellations will receive a full refund for their tickets, which can be processed within 30 days.
Georgian Railways apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these changes.
The above changes are related to a railway accident that occurred on the Didube-Avchala section of the line in Tbilisi, resulting in the deaths of two employees of Georgian Railways who were performing scheduled work.
