Georgia Reports 1881 New Cases of Coronavirus, 37 Deaths

Georgia Reports 1881 New Cases of Coronavirus, 37 Deaths

In the past 24 hours, 1,881 new infection cases have been confirmed, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today’s briefing at the Administration of the Government.

He discussed the latest coronavirus statistics and the Government’s efforts as of December 25.

“13,655 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including 6,747 antigen and 6,908 PCR tests.

“Consequently, we have 1,881 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 218,724 confirmed cases.

“We have 1,515 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 196,220.

“Unfortunately, 37 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 2,313 fatalities.

“Of the 1,881 cases identified today, 863 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 97 in Adjara, 259 in Imereti, 168 in Kvemo Kartli, 145 in Shida Kartli, 35 in Guria, 112 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 108 in Kakheti, 54 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 29 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 11 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

“Presently, we have 20,165 active infection cases. 5,969 persons are treated in hospitals, including 2,687 in Tbilisi, 584 in Adjara, and 1,196 in Imereti. We have 1,068 severe cases, including 522 in Tbilisi, 121 in Adjara, and 239 in Imereti, of whom 414 are on a ventilator, including 187 in Tbilisi, 64 in Adjara, and 74 in Imereti.

“1,542 persons are in clinical hotels, including 603 in Tbilisi, 668 in Adjara, and 112 in Imereti. 12,654 persons are recovering at home.

“We have 396 persons in quarantine zones, including 183 in Tbilisi, 116 in Adjara, and 13 in Imereti.

“From October 6 through December 24, a total of 20,905 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.

“Presently, 38,693 persons are self-isolating, including 19,708 in Tbilisi, 4,006 in Adjara, and 4,887 in Imereti,” Berdia Sichinava said.
