Pawel Herczynski, the European Union’s Ambassador to Georgia, visited Guria on a two-day trip to promote inclusive regional development with Georgian citizens.
During his visit, Ambassador Herczynski met with civil society representatives, young people and local businesses engaged in EU-funded programs. He pointed out that the projects underway in Guria show the actual results of the partnership between Georgia and the European Union.
“It is a great pleasure to be in Guria. The projects we visited, and many others, clearly demonstrate what Georgia and the EU have achieved together,” Herczynski said. “We are not distant partners; we are here with you, supporting every region, every community, and every citizen of Georgia on its path toward EU membership.”
On the first day of the trip, the Ambassador was in Ozurgeti, where he officially inaugurated ‘Bookshelf – European Edition’, an initiative to strengthen educational and cultural exchange. He also met with members of the local student youth council and civil society organizations.
The second day took Herczynski to the village of Tkhintvali where he attended the opening of an EU-funded Wi-Fi hotspot project. Later, he held discussions with local journalists and media outlets before concluding his visit with a meeting with local business leaders and representatives of the ‘Green Guria/CENN’ and ‘Skills4Jobs’ initiatives.
