Economy Ministry: Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable Project is promising

Within the framework of the technical-economic research into the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable Project, the optimal capabilities of the cable were determined, and the project construction cost assessment and economic analysis were carried out.

The Ministry of Economy stated that the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable Project’s implementation will enhance energy security in both Europe and the South Caucasus region. It will also promote the development of renewable energy sector and boost regional transit opportunities.

“With the development of the project, Georgia, as an EU candidate country, will strengthen its position as one of the EU’s most significant and reliable partner states. The Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable Project will assign Georgia the additional label of “new European destination” and significantly increase the role of our country in ensuring European energy security,” the Ministry said.

The Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable Project involves the arrangement of a high-voltage underwater transmission network to connect the electrical energy systems of Europe, Georgia and beyond.
