“Deliverow” director: Courier sector in survival mode, tariffs likely to rise

Deliverow

The courier sector in Georgia is struggling to survive, Vazha Chakhunashvili, Deliverow’s director, told BM.GE. Rising fuel prices are pushing companies to the edge, and increases in service tariffs may be inevitable.

Chakhunashvili said companies have tried to maintain current prices, but resources are nearly exhausted.

“So far, we have not increased our tariffs, based on the interests of our customers. However, fuel prices have risen sharply in a short period. This is a large increase, which is detrimental to this sector, especially for transportation. If this trend continues, we will have to review prices and agree with our customers,” Chakhunashvili said.

He added that companies are operating at full capacity and it is becoming impossible to maintain current market tariffs.

“Today, we have competitive tariffs, but we have reached the peak. It is no longer about competition — it is about survival, ensuring tariffs do not lead to losses. April will probably be decisive. If the trend continues, tariffs in both courier and logistics services will rise,” Chakhunashvili said.

Starting April 1, some companies in Georgia have already raised local courier tariffs by an average of 10% due to higher fuel costs.
