As OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu visits Georgia, in an official statement, the Coalition for Change announced its refusal to meet with him, citing the OSCE/ODIHR’s conclusion that serious violations in the October 26 elections have undermined public trust in Georgia’s electoral process.
The Coalition criticized the Secretary General for failing to address the ongoing political crisis during his meeting with representatives of what they called an “illegitimate government.”
“This silence is being weaponized by the regime in a way that mirrors Russian propaganda, aimed at legitimizing their anti-democratic and anti-Western agenda,” the statement read.
The Coalition says Georgia is facing a deep political crisis, marked by constitutional backsliding, electoral fraud, the torture of peaceful protesters, and the unlawful detention of citizens. In this context, the Secretary General’s failure to acknowledge the crisis, they argued, only strengthens the regime’s rhetoric.
“Clarity and consistency are vital to overcoming the regime and realizing the Georgian people’s historic aspirations,” the Coalition said, adding that their stance has been acknowledged by international partners. This, they noted, has contributed to the activation of the Vienna Mechanism against Ivanishvili’s regime—previously applied to Belarus and Russia.
Meanwhile, Secretary General Sinirlioğlu is expected to meet with representatives of the Lelo party.
The Secretary-General has already met with FM Maka Bochorishvili, PM Irakli Kobakhidze and aother officials.
