Georgia’s national rugby team, the Borjgalosnebi, begin 2026 with a new head coach and a new campaign in the Rugby Europe Championship, where they will aim to defend the title for a record 18th time and secure an eighth consecutive championship victory.
Head coach Pierre-Henry Broncan, together with Marco Bortolami, who will lead the team during Broncan’s absence at Rugby Europe, have named an extended squad of 34 players, including nine debutants. The Borjgalosnebi will be without Georgian star Davit Niniashvili of La Rochelle during the group stage.
Georgia’s campaign begins on 8 February in Yverdon, where the Borjgalosnebi face Switzerland. On 15 February, they take on the Netherlands in Amsterdam, before concluding the group stage on 21 February in Tbilisi against Spain.
The Rugby Europe semifinals will be held on 7–8 March, with the final scheduled for 15 March. Georgia remains the most successful nation in the tournament’s history, having won the championship 17 times, including the last eight editions in a row.
