The Roads Department under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure Rehabilitation reported that a critical 8.6-kilometer road segment near Georgia’s border with Armenia is nearing its final phase.
The Sadakhlo–Tsopi–Akhkerpi road, located in Marneuli municipality, is a route of internal state importance and serves as a primary connection point for regional trade, travel and transit across borders.
The project, fully financed by the state with a budget of over 6.6 million GEL, includes major infrastructure upgrades with the goal of enhancing transportation efficiency and accessibility.
Components of the reconstruction include:
- Full carriageway renewal and bridge reconstruction
- Restoration and construction of artificial structures
- Installation of drainage systems and road access points
- Building of water pipes, yard entrances, parking areas and bus pavilions
- New road signs and surface markings
Officials say the upgraded road will help mobility for local residents, improve road safety and create easier access to Armenia.
