Azerbaijan, Armenia accuse each other of opening fire, report casualties

Azerbaijan and Armenia have accused each other of opening fire and provocation on the border, and both have reported casualties and injuries.

“On February 12, as a result of another military provocation by the Armed Forces of Armenia, a serviceman of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan was wounded. This provocation from the Armenian side deals a serious blow to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In the conditions of stability of the last 4-5 months, such provocative actions clearly contradict the declared peace messages of Armenia,” the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reads.

A statement was also issued by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. According to the agency, two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia, who violated the ceasefire regime and tried to provoke on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, were killed.

Reportedly, there are also injured civilians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia also confirms the information about the dead and injured.

“According to preliminary data, as a result of the opening of fire by the armed forces of Azerbaijan in the direction of Nerkin Khanda, there are two dead and wounded,” said the statement of the Defense Ministry of Armenia.
