Another night of fireworks and police brutality

Tbilisi protests, December 7

The ninth night of protests on Rustaveli Avenue drew to a dramatic close at around 3am tonight, with riot police switching on its water cannons, firing tear gas and having special gangs hunt down, chase and forcibly remove certain individuals. Numerous arrests were made and injuries received.

Some protesters once again fired fireworks in the direction of the police officers.

Protesters are still on the move throughout the city, while the majority of the riot police came to a stop in Republic Square, having cleared the length of Rustaveli Avenue.
