Actor Andro Chichinadze and comedian Onise Tskhadadze face up to 9 years in prison.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that they are being held “on charges of organizing, leading, participating in group violence, and publicly calling for violent action.”
Today, three more people have been arrested in Tbilisi and the Imereti region under the same article: G.M., born in 1990, J.A., born in 1975, and R.S., a foreign citizen, born in 1997.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says that during searches of the defendants’ personal and residential homes, mobile phones, computer equipment, military clothing, and gas masks were seized as evidence.
Also, as part of the ongoing investigation, a search was conducted in the residential apartments of four individuals in Tbilisi, from which, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, firearms, a large amount of money, memory cards and computer equipment were seized. The investigation is ongoing under Article 225, Parts 1 and 2, and Article 239, Part 1, of the Criminal Code.
Within the framework of the ongoing protests, a total of 13 individuals have been detained under Articles 225 and 239, Prima, of the Criminal Code, which include organizing, leading or participating in group violence and publicly calling for violent actions, and 1 individual has been charged with preparing an explosion.
