The Government of Georgia has expressed deep concern over the ongoing military actions in the Middle East, stating that the escalation threatens the security and well-being of all countries in the region.
In a statement released on Monday, the Georgian government extended condolences to both the Iranian and Israeli sides following significant civilian and political casualties.
“We express condolences to the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the ongoing military actions have claimed the lives of a large number of people, including the Supreme Leader, other political leaders, many innocent individuals, and dozens of children,” the statement reads.
The government also expressed sympathy toward Israel.
“We express condolences to our friend, the Jewish people, and to Israel due to the deaths of peaceful citizens as a result of the military actions.”
The statement further emphasized Georgia’s solidarity with Arab Gulf states, highlighting the country’s “distinguished partnership” with the region.
“The Government of Georgia expresses full solidarity with the Arab countries of the Gulf. We express hope that peace will be restored in the Middle East in the nearest future, for which military actions must be replaced by diplomacy and political dialogue.”
Authorities also underlined that steps are being taken to ensure the safety of Georgian citizens currently in the region.
“The Government of Georgia will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of our citizens in the region and to protect their interests,” the statement concludes.
The announcement comes amid intensified military exchanges in the Middle East that have resulted in high-level political casualties and growing regional instability.
