Plastic surgery is no longer viewed solely through the lens of aesthetics. Increasingly, the focus is on procedures that restore function and help patients regain confidence after trauma, illness, or congenital conditions. In Georgia, one of the clinics working in this direction is Renew, founded by plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Lasha Osepaishvili.
With 18 years of international experience across eight countries, including Spain and Ukraine, Dr. Osepaishvili returned to Georgia with the goal of establishing a clinic that combines reconstructive expertise with modern aesthetic practice. Georgian Today spoke with him about Renew’s vision and the growing importance of restorative procedures in contemporary medicine.
The Vision: Beyond the Surface
The name “Renew” suggests a fresh start. What was the driving force behind establishing this clinic?
The idea for Renew developed from a desire to introduce strong international standards to Georgia. After practicing in medical centers across eight countries, including Spain and Ukraine, I saw the importance of creating a clinical environment built on safety, transparency, and modern technology. Our aim was not only to establish a medical facility, but to create a space where professional expertise is combined with attentive patient care.
Why is reconstructive surgery so central to Renew?
Reconstructive surgery focuses on restoring both function and form. Many patients today are seeking balance and natural results rather than dramatic transformation. At Renew, reconstructive procedures play a central role because they directly impact a patient’s quality of life, confidence, and physical well-being.
You have invested significantly in technology. How does the equipment at Renew distinguish the clinic?
Precision is fundamental in surgery. We use certified, advanced medical technologies, including laser systems for scar revision and modern surgical equipment designed to support safer procedures and smoother recovery. At the same time, technology is only effective when guided by experienced professionals. Our team consists of specialists with whom I have collaborated for many years. We share a commitment to technical accuracy and careful, individualized patient care.
Maya Jankhoteli is considered a pioneer in Georgian aesthetics. How does her expertise complement the surgical side?
Aesthetic medicine and surgical practice are closely connected. Maya was among the first specialists to introduce injectable aesthetic treatments in Georgia 18 years ago. By integrating surgical procedures with non-invasive treatments such as Ultherapy and biorevitalization, we are able to offer patients a comprehensive approach that supports balanced and long-term results.
Patient care at Renew is often described as highly personalized. What does this mean in practice?
Personalization begins with careful consultation. We follow a patient-first approach, meaning that procedures are recommended only when they align with the patient’s medical needs and aesthetic goals. From the initial meeting to post-operative follow-up, our team prioritizes clear communication and informed decision-making. We are also developing partnerships with clinics in Israel and Europe to ensure ongoing access to updated medical protocols and professional collaboration.
What is your ultimate goal for Renew?
Our goal is to build a clinic that patients trust for both reconstructive and aesthetic care. Whether performing a complex rhinoplasty or addressing a reconstructive concern, we aim to provide treatment that is safe, responsible, and grounded in professional standards.
