From 12 to 17 January 2026, the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, in cooperation with the NATO Contact Point Embassies of Romania and the United Kingdom, organized the NATO Winter School for Georgian Young Leaders 2026 in Bucharest.

The programme took place in the Romanian capital, a city of symbolic importance for NATO–Georgia relations. Following a highly competitive selection process, 18 students and recent graduates from Georgia were chosen from more than 500 applicants nationwide.

The one-week intensive school focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of NATO’s mission, core values and strategic objectives. Special emphasis was placed on Black Sea security, NATO’s partnerships in the South Caucasus and the Alliance’s broader role in regional and international security.

Through expert-led sessions and discussions, the Winter School equipped emerging Georgian leaders with in-depth knowledge of NATO policies and to encourage informed engagement on Euro-Atlantic security issues.
