Strong winds damaged several municipalities in Georgia’s Kakheti region late last night, causing infrastructure damage and disruption in a number of areas. In Telavi, the regional center, the wind tore off the roofs of several residential buildings.
The severe weather also uprooted trees and electricity poles, leading to localized power outages and blocked roads in parts of the region. Emergency and municipal services were mobilized overnight to respond to the situation and begin clearing debris.
Representatives of local government were present in the affected areas. According to officials, a special commission has been established to assess the damage. Once the evaluation is completed, authorities said a decision will be made on the forms of assistance to be provided to residents whose property was affected.
As of the latest reports, adverse weather conditions persisted in the region, with authorities urging residents to remain cautious and follow safety recommendations until conditions improve.
