Norwegian Airlines, Scandinavia’s second-largest carrier, is set to enter Georgia’s aviation market in the summer of 2026, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced.

The airline will operate direct, regular flights on the Copenhagen–Tbilisi–Copenhagen route starting June 27, with two weekly services connecting the Danish and Georgian capitals. Previously, only Kutaisi International Airport offered direct flights to Copenhagen.

The launching of a leading European low-cost carrier shows focus on market diversification and the country’s position in international tourism. Officials note that direct air connectivity with Scandinavia will enhance Georgia’s accessibility, attract high-spending tourists and increase tourism sector revenues.

It is noteworthy that, until now, there have never been direct regular flights between the two capitals. Previously, only Kutaisi International Airport connected Georgia directly with Copenhagen by air, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.
