The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed Irakli Beraia as Georgia’s new Representative to NATO, the ministry announced.
Beraia brings extensive experience in security and foreign policy. He has previously served as Deputy Head of Georgia’s State Security Service and Head of the Intelligence Service. In Parliament, he chaired both the Defence and Security Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee, and also led Georgia’s delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
In addition to his parliamentary work, Beraia has held senior government positions, including Director of the National Investment Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and Director of the Reforms and Development Agency within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
His appointment comes at a time when Georgia continues to strengthen its partnership with NATO amid regional security challenges.
