National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) published new data revealing that Georgia’s demographic trends show signs of strain in the first half of 2025 as deaths once again outnumbered live births.
Between January and June, 17,719 babies were born while 22,718 people passed away, leaving the country with a negative natural increase of 4,999.
Only two regions resisted the nationwide decline. Tbilisi recorded a positive natural increase of 406, while Adjara Autonomous Republic reported an increase of 296.
Marriage and divorce figures also show changing social dynamics. In the first six months of 2025, Georgia registered 9,925 marriages compared to 6,456 divorces.
