The parliamentary mandates of members from the Gakharia for Georgia party have been officially terminated due to repeated, unjustified absences from parliamentary sessions. The following individuals have lost their seats: Giorgi Gakharia, Teona Akubardia, Ana Buchukuri, Levan Gogichaishvili, Zaza Tavadze, Beka Liluashvili, Natia Mezvrishvili, Berdia Sichinava, Kakha Kemoklidze, Roin Kochorashvili, Dimitri Tskitishvili, and Zviad Dzidziguri.
As a result, the current 11th convocation of parliament, which is constitutionally composed of 150 members, is now functioning with only 89 deputies. In total, mandates for 61 MPs have been terminated during this parliamentary term.
Unlike several other opposition parties, Gakharia for Georgia has not withdrawn its electoral list. Consequently, Parliament is expected to consider the recognition of mandates for the next 12 candidates on the party’s list.
‘For Georgia’ will be denied state funding for the next six months. According to the Law on Political Unions of Citizens, a party becomes ineligible for budgetary financing if more than half of its elected MPs miss over half of the plenary sessions without valid justification. In such cases, state funding is suspended starting from the first day of the following calendar month.
