The National Statistics Office of Georgia published data revealing that Georgia saw considerable improvements in access to water supply and wastewater services in 2024.
A total of 28 enterprises were active in the country’s water supply sector last year. These companies delivered approximately 243.4 million cubic meters of water to households, making a 5.1% increase from 2023 when the volume stood at 231.5 million cubic meters. By the end of 2024, 2.79 million people, roughly 75.4% of Georgia’s population, were connected to a central water supply system, up by 1.5% compared to 2023.
Progress was also seen in wastewater infrastructure. The number of residents connected to sewage networks rose to 2 million, covering 54.1% of the population, a 1% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, access to wastewater treatment facilities improved more significantly with 1.58 million people (42.7% of the population) connected in 2024, up 3.9% from 2023.
