After a six-point proposal by Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will address the situation in Georgia today. Earlier in June, before this meeting, Budrys addressed a deteriorating humanitarian climate in Georgia and called for urgent EU action.

The proposal includes increased support for Georgian civil society and a possible revision of the EU-Georgia visa regime. “A point on today’s agenda is Georgia and Lithuania’s initiative on Georgia. We are proposing six points on how to proceed with Georgia, as the humanitarian situation is deteriorating. This is the right time now to do it.

I will discuss it. We have already circulated our suggestions and our proposals, and I will discuss them with my colleagues first, starting from additional support to civil society up to revision of the visa regime that we have with Georgia,” he declared.
