EU Ambassador Pawel Herczynski followed up on the 2024 EU Enlargement report on Georgia, emphasizing the importance of tangible reforms after getting candidate status.
Herczynski openly expressed disillusionment over the Georgian government’s actions that prevent fast EU integration and enable democratic decline. Although he pointed out significant advancements in energy and public procurement, challenges in human rights and jurisdiction remain unsolved. The ambassador highlighted the necessity for transparency in elections and urged the government to realign with democratic values.
He called on Georgian officials to assess the report as a clear outline of all the areas in which the country faces shortcomings for resetting its EU path, declaring that its doors remain open for those who respect the political aspirations of the Georgian people.
