Applications for the EU Prize for Journalism 2024 are now open until October 10, 2024.
Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia, highlighted the importance of quality journalism for greater public trust and noted that recognizing such works is part of it, while Sofo Megrelidze, a jury member, emphasized the hardships Georgian journalists encounter.
Winners from previous years, Anastasia Bakhturidze and Lana Kokaia, encouraged their peers to participate and called the prize the ‘Georgian Oscars’ for journalists.
The competition has been promoting high-quality journalism for 13 years, with seven categories to be awarded during the upcoming ceremony: Best story in print or online media; Best feature story in broadcast or online media; Best investigative story in print, online, or broadcast media; Best blog, opinion, or column in print, online, or broadcast media; The most innovative and original piece of work in print, broadcast, or online media; Best documentary photo reflecting shared values; and Best student work in print, online, or broadcast media.
