The transfer/concession of space for social events (weddings, anniversaries, celebrations, etc.) and mass entertainment events has been prohibited by the Georgian government. The relevant amendment has already been made in the Resolution of the Government of Georgia on the approval of isolation and quarantine rules, Giorgi Gibradze, Chief of the Operational Staff of the Interagency Coordination Council, announced at a briefing today, April 8.

“The decree obliges the owner of the space to take all reasonable measures, including by imposing a specific restriction in the contract, in order to avoid using the space for purposes prohibited by the decree.

“Further, the owners of said spaces are obliged to immediately notify the relevant services as soon as they receive information about any violation.

“In addition, if the prohibited activity is accompanied by a breach of the requirements approved by the order of the Minister of Health to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Labor Inspection Service, in coordination with the Interior Ministry, may temporarily restrict unauthorized entry and access to the facility by sealing the property.

“For the record, based on the current legislation, the gathering of more than 10 individuals in the country for holding social events such as weddings, and anniversaries, celebrations, etc. is prohibited,” said Giorgi Gibradze.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has already signed the amendments to the Georgian Government Resolution on the Approval of the Rules of Isolation and Quarantine.

In case of violation, the fine is 2000 GEL for an individual and 10 000 GEL for a legal entity.
