Name change for ‘Akhali’ party: “Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa”

At the session of the Political Council, the new name for the Akhali party was announced: the “Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa”.

The press service of the Akhali party said Ana Gogoladze and Ani Kavtaradze were approved as deputy chairpersons of the political council.

“Today, August 4, the session of the political council of the party Akhali was held, at which Ana Gogoladze and Ani Kavtaradze were approved as deputy chairpersons of the political council.

“Also, by the decision of the Council, a women’s organization was created, with Ana Gogoladze as elected chairperson, and an extraordinary congress of the party was held. The new name of the party was determined – “Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa,” the party announced.

Nika Gvaramia, founder of the opposition-leaning Mtavari Arkhi TV, together with Nika Melia, former Chair of the UNM, announced the formation of the new political alliance, initially called “Akhali” (Georgian – ახალი, meaning “new”), to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections under the number “4” on the electoral list.

The two co-founders first presented their political alliance on March 11, 2024.
