President: Today the road to Europe froze – Gov’t turned away from this road

Today the road to Europe has frozen – the government has turned away from this road and we have been frozen – said the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, during her speech at the presentation of the civil movement Choose Europe.

President claimed that what is happening at the NATO summit and what statements are being made are a great danger for Georgia.

“Today the road to Europe froze. The Government blocked this road for us. By doing so, they deviated from the country’s constitution; By doing so, they denied their own electorate. I was a part of the campaign that first brought the “Dream” to the top, and then I was a candidate for the presidential elections. All these campaigns, our foreign course, the development of the country were built precisely to build a European state. They turned away from this road and froze us. What is happening today at the NATO summit, the statements that were made, the cut off aid to our defense forces, this is a serious threat to this country. There is little time left – 100 days. This time is both short and long for the society to say what it has to say,” the President said.
