The participants of the “3+3” format meeting on the South Caucasus issue in Tehran confirmed that the regional consultative platform is open for equal participation of Georgia, the final statement of the meeting reads.
“Participants positively evaluated the results of the meeting, and confirmed that the platform is open for equal participation of Georgia,” the document states.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the recent developments in the Middle East.
“The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, the Russian Federation and Turkey also exchanged views on the current situation in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the need to immediately stop the bombing of innocent civilians,” the document states.
On October 23, Monday, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Turkey held a meeting in “3+3 format” in Tehran, Iran. Georgia will not participate in the “3+3” meeting in Tehran, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2020, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the initiative to create a “new platform for regional cooperation to ensure strong peace and stability” – “3+3” in the South Caucasus. The meeting in the mentioned format was held for the first time in 2021, and Georgia did not attend then either.
