Kakhaber Sabanadze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, posted on Facebook to announce his resignation.

“I would like to respond to the recent reports in the media and emphasize that I have served the state for years and adhered to the law, the strict enforcement of which has been is and will continue to be my priority.

“The rumors need a thorough and objective investigation to establish the truth. In view of the above, in order to ensure confidence in the investigation process, I am resigning. I think this will be a precedent for all officials to act with a high standard of responsibility in case of objective questions in society,” posts Sabanadze.

The former Deputy Minister thanked the police and the people working in the system and wished them success.

Sabanadze’s resignation is connected with the secret recordings aired on TV, according to which the obstruction of the 2019 rally and damage to equipment was done on Sabanadze’s instructions.
