Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze claims that the reason the Polish doctor secretly took Mikheil Saakashvili’s sample out of the medical institution may be an attempt at forgery and manipulation.
Kobakhidze says the Polish authorities should “explanation themselves.”
“The only reason for this is fraud. From a non-expert point of view, I think the only reason for the use of samples that one of the doctors took secretly may be to falsify it. In this regard, we need to hear explanations, including from the Polish authorities. As far as I know, it was their initiative to bring these doctors to Georgia. They will need to provide an official explanation of what happened, why it happened. This needs serious investigation. We can clearly see that there was an attempt at manipulation. I don’t know how these samples may be used for another purpose,” he said.
The Special Penitentiary Service today released a statement and footage regarding the visit of Polish doctors visiting the third president of Georgia.
According to the statement, during the visit, there was an “inexplicable incident” from one of the Polish doctors, who wrapped a sample taken from convict Mikheil Saakashvili in paper and tried to sneak it out in his shoe.
The agency explains that the Service had already given them the right to take out a sample taken in an official manner, therefore, the said action “adds even more ambiguity to the doctor’s behavior, inconsistent with medical ethical and legal norms”.
