Parliament hears activity report of parliamentary delegation to EU-Georgia association parliamentary committee

The Parliament heard the Activity Report for 2022 of the Parliamentary Delegation to the EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee, introduced by the Head of the Delegation, the Co-Chair of the EU-Georgia PAC, Maka Botchorishvili.

As she highlighted, the Committee in 2022 held two meetings through the rotation – in Brussels and Georgia with the participation of the executive authorities as well. At the meeting in Brussels, significant accents were made on the EU-Georgia Association Agenda. As M. Botchorishvili underlined, the attendees discussed the EUAA extension, the ongoing and scheduled democratic reforms in Georgia, the human rights state, DCFTA fulfillment, and the situation on the occupied territories of Georgia.

“We strive to put a special emphasis in regards to the EU on the sector cooperation and make the bilateral meetings maximally productive. The issues we have discussed within the PAC are significant as for the EU so for Georgia,” she noted.

At the 10th sitting, the Committee discussed the integration of Georgia into the uniform digital market of the EU, its prospects, environmental protection and the European Green Deal, and the 11th meeting was dedicated to cooperation on the EU connectivity, including the Georgia-EU partnership and employment in the spheres of transport, logistics, energy and digital connectivity, public healthcare and social policy.

“We held the September meeting after Georgia submitted the EU membership application. Georgia has already received 12 recommendations and the Parliament was already in the course of consideration and fulfillment and hence, we had the opportunity to discuss this process and hear the positions of the Members of the European Parliament,” she added.
