Mikheil Gvadzabia, a Netgazeti journalist, alleges that a special forces officer attacked him during the protest against the Georgian Parliament’s approval of the draft bill on “transparency of foreign influence” in its first reading.
“Today, for the first time, I experienced for myself that showing a journalist’s document to an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is not a guarantee of safety,” said Mikheil Gvadzabia.
“A special forces officer kicked me when I was walking to the underground near the First Public School. Everything happened in 1-2 seconds after Nestan, who was with me, shouted at him, “we are the press” and I had a press card on me,” he continued.
“My hand still hurts, but overall, we are fine. Good people sheltered us in their apartment,” Gvadzabia wrote.
