Gamkrelidze: In Week of March 22, Georgia Will Receive Vaccines

Head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze says it has been confirmed that in the week of March 22, Georgia will receive both the “Pfizer” and “AstraZeneca” vaccines. He also noted that the exact date will be known in a few days.

“We have almost daily communication with the Indian Institute, which produces the Novavax vaccine. They promise that we will get a contract from them soon, we talked to them today. As for the news about the vaccine, based on written or remote meetings, it has been confirmed that by March 22 the country will definitely receive both the “Pfizer” and “AstraZeneca” vaccines. Both must be accessed through the COVAX platform. The day and flight by which the vaccine will be sent will be specified in the near future. This is what intensive communication with the UNICEF is about, as they provide vaccines. Transactions were made with them for the purchase of these two vaccines, ” stated Gamkrelidze.
