Justice Minister: At the meeting with the Ambs of EU & Sweden, there was no discussion about transfer of Saakashvili

The Minister of Justice of Georgia, Rati Bregadze, states that at today’s meeting with the Ambassadors of the European Union and Sweden in Georgia, there was no discussion about the transfer of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, abroad.

The Minister posted the corresponding statement on social networks.

“3 untrue pieces of information were quickly spread.

“At today’s meeting, there was no discussion of a transfer abroad nor discussion of any specific country.

“I respect the freedom of the media, however, the public should be properly informed,” the Minister wrote on Facebook and shared the information spread by the media.

According to the Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia, he, together with the Ambassador of Sweden, handed over the official EU demarche to the Minister of Justice of Georgia, which concerns the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. According to the diplomat, all 27 member states of the European Union agreed to the demarche in Brussels.

“Together with the Ambassador of Sweden, which represents the country holding the presidency of the European Union, we delivered an official demarche to the Minister of Justice. The demarche refers to the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. We are very concerned about the reports of his deteriorating health. What is very important is that all 27 member states of the European Union agree to this demarche,” said the EU Ambassador.
